Kintamani Day Tour

This really is an excellent itinerary for a day tour that takes you through Penglipuran Village for an insight into Balinese culture on the way to Kintamani, stopping at the famous Akasa Coffee Plantation and down to the temple on the edge of Lake Batur.

On the way back you have a couple of interesting options: either head east to Besikah Temple, known as the Mother Temple to the Balinese, before driving back through the incredibly picturesque Sideman countryside.

Or come back just on the eastern side of Ubud stopping at Gunung Kawi and Tirta Empul, two of the most interesting and accessible temples in Bali.

Then you have the option of visiting either Goa Gajah (the Elephant Cave) or Tibumana Waterfall.

Is this a private tour?

Yes – all my tours are with a private car and driver. I have personally vetted all the drivers I work with. They text me when they pick you up and again when you have been dropped off at the end of the day. I also email your driver’s name, profile photo, vehicle photo and phone number beforehand to ensure your safety and provide confidence.

What time does the Kintamai Tour leave?

You can start anytime you like, but I recommend leaving between 7 – 8:00 AM, or even earlier if possible to get a head start on the traffic and ensure you have enough time to hit the stops in the afternoon.

  1. Hi, Michael, we are wondering about a day trip to rice terrace (Tegalallang?), coffee plantation, a waterfall (Tukad Cepang?), then watch sunset & mountain views at Kintamani before returning to a resort in Ubud. We can start late morning, lunch somewhere around along the route, and maybe dinner at Kintamani. Does this itinerary make sense for a 10hr booking?
We would like recommendations for a sunset viewpoint and a nice waterfall. Thank you for your advice.

    • Hi ML, your driver will be best to ask about the best places to go for sunset at Kintamani and choosing a waterfall that suits your age, experience and fitness levels.

      Safe travels, Michael
