For a truly unique Bali experience try a Mount Batur Sunrise Trek Tour. You will be rewarded for getting up early to be met with one of the most spectacular sunrises on the planet. Starting from Toya Bungkah village you’ll start your trek before dawn under a blanket of stars and climb safely at a pace that suits your group.

From the summit, you’ll watch the sky turn from dark purple to burnt orange and sassy pink as the sun rises over the ocean to the east. Mount Batur is an active volcano and part of UNESCO’s Global Geopark Network. Standing at 1,717 meters (5,633 feet) above sea level the hike to the summit will be a highlight of your trip to Bali.
My driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby or villa and drop you at the base of the Mount Batur where you meet your mountain guide for a safety briefing before trekking to the summit.
Daylight reveals the volcanic valley below and spectacular views of Mount Agung, Mount Abang and Mount Rinjani all the way to Lombok island.
After a light breakfast (usually eggs and coffee or tea) you will be trekking back down the mountain past recent lava flows and the amazing volcanic landscape overlooking the crater lake.

Itinerary 1: Mount Batur Sunrise Trek + Hot Springs
The best thing I can recommend after a Mount Batur Sunrise Trek is the Batur Natural Hot Springs located on the shores of Danau (Lake) Batur. A soak in these will cure the muscle soreness if you’re not used to trekking so much and make sure you’re nice and relaxed for your return to your hotel or villa for a nap beside the pool.

Itinerary 2: Mount Batur Sunrise Trek + Besakih Temple
Skipping the hot springs will give you enough time to also visit Besakih Temple – the largest temple complex in Bali – as well as a waterfall on the way back to your accommodations.
Next is Tukad Cepung Waterfall if you still feel like a bit of a scramble along the river canyon leading to the spectacular and secluded waterfall that comes over the cliff edge. The perfect time to visit is between 10:30 am – 12 pm, as the light fades pretty fast after that.
