Goa Gajah
Goa Gajah is also known among tourists as the Elephant Cave, which often causes confusion when tourists ask their driver to take them to the Elephant Cave only to be led to a 9th-century Hindu temple without a real-life elephant in sight.
It’s one of the most accessible temples in Bali due to its location less than 3 km from downtown Ubud. The temple complex is divided into a number of areas built over centuries, with carved stone frescoes on the cliff walls, amazing purification baths and a tiny, not always-open cave where the temple gets its name.
So many travellers don’t realise how close they are to Goa Gajah when sightseeing, and at the right times when not too busy it remains one of my all-time favourite temples in Bali to visit.
