Itinerary
Upon arrival at the meeting point, you’ll be greeted with a complimentary coffee or tea while you wait for the tour to get organized. The journey begins by traversing through the pine forests in the dark. It’s a bumpy ride so hang tight.
After the drive to the top, you’ll come to a clearing where all the jeeps park to witness the sunrise over Lake Batur. You can come out and stretch your legs, sit on the roof of the jeep, and take some photos. You’ll be provided a simple breakfast – don’t expect anything fancy.
The return trip back down takes you through the jaw-dropping black lava fields – a geosite – and the pine forests surrounding Mount Batur. Upon return to the meeting point, you can either go grab a coffee at one of Kintamani’s scenic cafes, or continue exploring the rest of the area. See more on our Instagram Reel.

Can I book this with a private car and driver?
If you’d like to continue exploring the rest of Mount Batur’s surrounding areas, Kintamani, and other attractions in East Bali, I’d recommend booking the Mount Batur Sunrise Jeep Tour.
You’ll have your own private car and driver for 12 hours from pick-up until drop-off. Your driver will take you to the jeep tour first thing in the morning and wait for you while you explore Mount Batur. After your jeep tour you can continue exploring. The itinerary is yours to adjust and the day is entirely up to you.
What if I already booked a private car and driver?
Great! If you already booked a private car and driver for the East Bali Day Tour, you can add this booking onto your itinerary. Simply select the same date in this booking and I can have it added on to your initial booking.
This booking is fully private. You will not be sharing a jeep with strangers. Whether you book for 1 person or 3, it is a private jeep tour.
What time should I arrive?
Aim to arrive by 3:30 – 4:00 am. The jeeps usually leave around 4:00 – 4:30 am.
Is the Jeep Tour suitable for children?
The kids will love it…if you manage to wake them up that early.
Is the Mount Batur Jeep Tour safe?
You shouldn’t have to worry too much about dangerous terrain. All of the routes to the top of the mountain have been mapped out over many years to find the safest paths to the peak. There are some parts of the journey where it will be steeper than usual but other than that you’ll be safe and sound.
What kind of vehicle is it?
Although it’s usually referred to as a “Jeep Tour” it’s not an actual Jeep model. Most of the jeep tour providers use a similar safari-type off-road vehicles like the Suzuki Katana. All the same fun!
