Complete list of every Embassy and Consulate in Bali

Here is a complete list of every consulate in Bali. Note that some of these consulates cannot provide visa or passport services (Honorary Consulates), but may be able to assist citizens who are facing emergencies.

I did my best to do thorough research on each consulate to give you the most up-to-date information. All the contact details provided are from each embassy and consulate’s official website.

If you have any important information to add about your country’s consulate or embassy, feel free to comment below to help others who might be facing similar issues as you.

Embassy vs Consulate in Bali

What is the difference?

When it comes to your consulate in Bali, there are different levels of consulates that vary in terms of what type of services that can offer. It’s important to understand these differences based on what you need, to save yourself time and frustration.

Embassy – This is the highest diplomatic representation of a country in another nation. Embassies can help with visas, passports, legal trouble, any just about anything related to your country. It’s important to note that most embassies in Indonesia are located in Jakarta due to it being the capital city of Indonesia.

Consulate-General – This is slightly lower on the ladder below an embassy and you will likely find a Consulate-General of your country in Bali if it’s known to be frequently visited by your nation’s people or has strong ties to Indonesia. Consulate-Generals can help with visas, passports, and travel documents.

Consulate – Very similar to a Consulate-General. Also offers assistance with issuing visas and passport renewals but has a few limitations.

Honorary Consulate – The least effective on this list, especially if you need assistance with your passport or travel visa. An Honorary Consulate in Bali is often a single local person who is appointed by the consulate’s nation. Services offered at these are very limited.

What can Consulates and Embassies do?

In general, both embassies and consulates play crucial roles in dealing with visas and passports – issuances, expiries and renewals, and legal assistance.

Passports – In most cases, you will need to visit your embassy for important passport needs. This includes passport renewal or lost passports. In the unfortunate scenario of a lost passport, you can travel domestically from Bali to Jakarta with any government ID – no passport needed.

Visas – Your consulate in Bali can help you with issuing travel visas for traveling to their nation. However, some consulates, like the Thai Consulate in Bali, cannot process travel visas and in many cases you will need to visit the country’s embassy in Jakarta.

Emergency Assistance – In the case of any legal emergencies, your embassy or consulate in place to help you or at least guide you to the most appropriate steps of action

It’s always a good idea to first contact them through email or phone to make sure you don’t waste your time.

I work with some of the best drivers to provide amazing day tours around Bali. You can also simply book a private car and driver to explore Bali or to run errands like shopping or visiting your consulate.
