At some point during your time in Bali, after one too many fried rice for breakfast, you’ll likely want to treat yourself with something a bit more refined.
Enter CasCades Restaurant in Ubud – an exquisite restaurant that’s perched high above a lush valley with one of the best views in town. This isn’t just about stuffing your face with good food (we’ll get to that in a minute), this is a dining occasion.
About CasCades Restaurant

CasCades Restaurant in Ubud is a renowned upscale dining experience. The ambiance strikes a balance between elegance and authentic Balinese. The main selling point (other than the delicious food) is the panoramic views of the jungle and valley below.
Whether you’re dining with your family or having a romantic meal as a couple, CasCasdes Restaurant is a top-choice regardless of the occasion.
CasCades Restaurant Ubud Location
Located in Viceroy Bali (luxury 5-star resort), CasCades Restaurant, along with its sibling Apéritif Restaurant, is just a few minutes from the centre of Ubud. The exact address on Google Maps is Jl. Lanyahan, Br. Nagi, Ubud.
The building is a beautiful structure designed with an authentic Balinese aesthetic. Enjoy your meal in an open-air setting, soft lighting, and the sounds of nature. The restaurant itself sits on top of a ridge overlooking a lush tropical valley – it doesn’t even feel like you’re in Ubud!

If you’re further south in Ubud, it’s about a 30-minute journey to CasCades. From Seminyak, it’s about a 1 to 1.5 hour drive. From Uluwatu, add another 30 minutes to the drive.
Dining at CasCades Restaurant
The dining experience is incredible. One of the defining aspects of CasCades Restaurant is their ability to provide their guests with a sensory journey through food, service, and ambiance.
The restaurant’s open-air concept allows you to feel a connection to the surrounding nature – while enjoy a top-of-the-line meal. Picture this: fresh mountain air, the sounds of birds and the river, views of the valley, and an impeccable taste in your mouth.
Now, let’s talk about the food. For lunch, we had their 3-course lunch meal – 3 entire rounds of absolute delight.

We started off light with a Spinach Salad (green apple, chick peas, and honey), and Tuna Crudo (Aquatir caviar, black truffle soy, wasabi, pomelo, and betel leaf). Yes, that’s just the starters! And they were perfect.
After a short breather, we prepped our stomachs for the next round – the main event – Chargrilled Spring Chicken and Truffle Mushroom Risotto. Brace yourselves!

Go for the chicken if you’re seeking out an Indonesian-inspired meal. It’s marinated in Sambal with a serving of mixed veggies on the side with some Indonesian rice cakes. You might want to loosen your belt after this plate.

The Truffle Mushroom Risotto is a great choice if you’re a cheese enthusiast. Wild mushrooms and Grana Pandano cheese come together in culinary matrimony to create a meal so delicious that you’ll force yourself to take your time with every spoonful.

After that feast, it’s time for dessert. I was brave enough to order the Ultimate Indulgence (that’s the name on the menu). The contents? Chocolate Fondant, Chocolate mouse, Chocolate Espuma, and ice cream. The name checks out!
The Creme Brûlée was also quite delectable, you can never go wrong with this. Alternatively you can opt for the Tropical Cheesecake with some passionfruit caviar and mango sorbet.
You don’t have to get the 3-course lunch. You can also choose your own items from their ala carte menu. Keep in mind, lunch and dinner both have different menus.
You’ll have a choice of teas if you’re craving something warm. I recommend opting for their herbal tea sourced from their garden. Compliments to their jolly restaurant manager, Agung, for guiding us through the experience!
Breakfast: It’s important to note that breakfast is only available to those already staying at Viceroy Bali, so a major plus of booking a few nights at Viceroy is that you’ll get to have breakfast with the gorgeous sunrise over the valley.
Dining Events at CasCades
While dining at CasCades is an event itself, there are a handful of options to enhance the experience.
Go for an elegant mid-afternoon treat with their Afternoon Tea – an array of delightful gourmet teas, sandwiches, handmade pastries, and mini-desserts. The Afternoon Tea will set you back IDR 450k++ per person. Children who are 6-11 years old get 10% off and kids under 6 years can eat for free.

But perhaps you’re lookin for something a bit more romantic for just the 2 of you. CasCades has just the thing – a 5-course menu on a decorated table overlooking the pool and valley during a Romantic Candle Light Dinner. This experience goes for IDR 1,200,000++ per person.
You can also enjoy dinner at CasCades Restaurant while witnessing a traditional Balinese Dance performance. These are hosted a few times a month is quite the experience especially if you haven’t seen a Balinese performance before.
How to get to CasCades Restaurant
If you’re making you way in and around Ubud for the day, I suggest you book a private car and driver for the most comfortable experience. This will give you the freedom to visit places without having to stress about navigating Ubud’s traffic on your own. Your driver can also wait for you while you enjoy your meal at CasCades Restaurant.
Alternatively, if you’re just visiting CasCades for lunch or dinner then back to your accommodation, you can simply book a private car and driver – half day hire.
If you’re renting a scooter in Bali and planning on making your way to CasCades Restaurant, it’s an easy ride if you’re already staying in Ubud. If you’re coming from further south like Seminyak, Canggu, or Sanur, remember to wear your helmet and take your time on Bali’s sometimes hectic streets.

I’ve been in Bali for so long I’ve grown roots (literally and metaphorically). For the past 10 years, I’ve experienced Bali from every angle. I’ve explored the temples, I’ve tried all the food, and I’m proudly fluent in the Indonesian language. I hope our website helps you get an authentic experience for your holiday in Bali, whether you’re here to enjoy the finer things in life, or to learn more about this Bali’s rich culture.
