UK Citizens Guide to Bali Visas, Entry Rules, & Passport Requirements

If you’re travelling to Bali from the UK, you’ll need a visa before entering Indonesia in 2026.

The good news is that getting a Bali visa for UK citizens is pretty straightforward, and most British tourists can choose between arranging an e-VOA online or getting a Visa on Arrival when they land.

Here are all the current visa options for UK passport holders, how much they cost, how to apply and extend, and exactly what you need before leaving the UK.

Bali Visa Summary for UK Passports

In 2026, UK citizens need a visa to enter Bali for a holiday. For most British tourists, the easiest option is the Visa on Arrival (VOA) or electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA).

Both give you an initial stay of 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days, giving you up to 60 days in Bali.

Here’s the quick version for your 2026 Bali trip:

  • Visa Status: British citizens must have a visa
  • Visa Costs: IDR 500,000 (around £23)
  • Visa Duration: 30 days, with a one-time extension for another 30 days.
  • Arrival Form: Complete the arrival declaration online
  • Bali Tourist Levy: Separate from your visa. Paid online before travelling.
  • UK Passport Validity: Must have at least 6 months validity from your arrival date.
  • Proof of Funds: Depending on your visa type

For a normal holiday of less than 30 days, either option works. Getting the e-VOA before flying saves you from having to buy your visa when you arrive, while the standard VOA is still straightforward if you prefer to sort it out at the airport.

Passport & Entry Requirements for UK Citizens

bali visa for uk citizens - passport requirements

Getting a Bali visa for UK citizens is fairly straightforward, but the visa is only one part of Indonesia’s entry requirements. You’ll also need a valid passport, an onward or return ticket, and a few other things sorted before you fly.

Indonesian immigration can be strict about passport validity and condition, so this is one thing worth checking well before you leave the UK.

For most UK tourists visiting Bali in 2026, you’ll need:

  • 6 months passport validity: Your UK passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive in Indonesia.
  • A passport in good condition: Torn pages, water damage, a damaged photo page or excessive wear can cause problems at immigration. Airlines can also refuse boarding if they believe your passport won’t be accepted.
  • Visa on Arrival: Most UK tourists use the 30-day B1 Visa on Arrival or apply for the electronic version before flying.
  • Return or onward ticket: Immigration may ask for proof that you plan to leave Indonesia before your permitted stay expires.
  • All Indonesia arrival declaration: Complete this within 72 hours before arriving in Indonesia. It combines the immigration, customs and health declarations into one arrival form.
  • Bali Tourist Levy: International tourists visiting Bali must pay the separate IDR 150,000 tourist levy. This is not included in the price of your visa.

Your visa and entry requirements are checked when you arrive in Indonesia, not when you reach your hotel or final destination.

If you have a connecting flight through another Indonesian airport, such as Jakarta, you’ll normally clear immigration there before continuing to Bali.

Keep your passport, visa confirmation if you applied online, onward or return flight details and All Indonesia declaration accessible when you land. You may be asked to show them during the arrival process.

Bali Tourist Visa Options for UK Citizens

getting a bali visa for uk citizens at the airport

There are a few options for Bali visa for UK citizens, but for most holidays the B1 Visa on Arrival or e-VOA is all you need.

They’re essentially the same 30-day tourist visa, with the main difference being whether you arrange it before or after landing.

VisaStayCost
B1 VOA30 + 30 daysIDR 500,000
B1 e-VOA30 + 30 daysIDR 500,000
C1 Tourist VisaUp to 180 daysFrom IDR 1m

B1 Visa on Arrival (VOA)

The standard Visa on Arrival is available to UK passport holders when you land in Bali.

  • Cost: IDR 500,000
  • Stay: 30 days
  • Extension: Once for another 30 days
  • Maximum stay: 60 days
  • Where to get it: At Bali Airport before immigration
  • Best for: Short holidays if you haven’t arranged a visa before flying

You pay for your visa after landing and then continue through immigration. It’s straightforward, although you’ll have an extra step to deal with at the airport.

B1 Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)

The e-VOA is the online version of the B1 Visa on Arrival. You apply and pay before travelling, so your visa is already sorted when you arrive.

  • Cost: IDR 500,000
  • Stay: 30 days
  • Extension: Once for another 30 days
  • Maximum stay: 60 days
  • Where to apply: Online through Indonesia’s official immigration website
  • Best for: Most UK tourists, especially if you want everything organised before flying

I recommend the e-VOA because there’s less to sort out after a long flight from the UK. It also gives you the option to manage your extension online if you decide to stay longer.

C1 Tourist Visa

If you’re planning to spend longer in Bali, the C1 Tourist Visa gives you more time from the start.

  • Initial stay: 60 days
  • Extension: Can be extended twice
  • Maximum stay: Up to 180 days
  • Application: Must be arranged before travelling
  • Best for: Longer stays in Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia

For a normal one or two-week holiday from the UK, the C1 is unnecessary. It becomes useful when you’re planning to stay beyond the 60 days available with a B1 VOA or e-VOA.

Bali Visa Costs & Fees for UK Citizens

The standard Bali visa for UK citizens costs IDR 500,000, which is roughly £23. This applies whether you get the B1 Visa on Arrival at Bali Airport or arrange an e-VOA online before leaving the UK.

Visa / FeeIDRApprox. GBP
B1 Visa on Arrival500,000£23
B1 e-VOA500,000£23
B1 30-day extension500,000£23
Bali Tourist Levy150,000£7

The Bali Tourist Levy is separate from your visa. This catches some first-time visitors out because paying for your visa does not mean you’ve also paid Bali’s IDR 150,000 tourist levy.

Paying for Your Visa at Bali Airport

  • If you’re getting a Visa on Arrival after landing, you can pay at the VOA counter before going through immigration.
  • Having a card available is convenient, but carrying some Indonesian rupiah as a backup is never a bad idea.
  • Once you’ve paid, keep your visa information and check the permitted stay shown by immigration. Overstaying in Indonesia can get expensive very quickly.

e-VOA Payment

  • If you apply for the e-VOA before travelling to Bali from the UK, you’ll pay online as part of the application.
  • Use Indonesia’s official immigration website rather than clicking the first sponsored visa agency you find on Google.
  • Third-party visa services often charge additional processing or service fees on top of the actual government visa fee.

How to Apply for Bali eVOA with UK Passport

application for bali visa for uk citizens online

For most British tourists, applying for an e-VOA before flying is the easiest way to organise a Bali visa for UK citizens.

The application itself is completed online through Indonesia’s official immigration website and means you don’t need to buy your visa after landing.

What You’ll Need

Have these ready before starting your Bali visa application:

  • UK passport: Valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
  • Passport photo: A recent colour photo that meets the application requirements.
  • Passport biodata page: A clear image of the information page of your passport.
  • Email address: Your visa confirmation and application details are linked to your email.
  • Flight details: Have your expected arrival information available.
  • Accommodation details: The address of your hotel, villa or other accommodation in Indonesia.
  • Payment card: To pay the IDR 500,000 visa fee online.

Applying for Your e-VOA

The process is fairly quick once you have everything ready:

  1. Go to the official Indonesian immigration eVisa website.
  2. Create an account and verify your details.
  3. Select the B1 Visa on Arrival for tourism.
  4. Enter your passport and personal information exactly as shown in your UK passport.
  5. Add your arrival and accommodation details.
  6. Upload the required passport image and photograph.
  7. Check every detail carefully before submitting.
  8. Pay the IDR 500,000 visa fee online.
  9. Your application will be processed and, once approved, your e-VOA will be issued electronically and sent to your email.

Your Bali e-VOA is valid for entry for 90 days from the date it’s issued, so there’s no need to leave your application until the last minute. Apply before your trip and get it sorted while you’re still in the UK.

💡 My Advice: Save a copy of the e-VOA to your phone and keep the confirmation email. Having an offline copy is useful in case airport Wi-Fi decides to welcome you to Bali by immediately becoming useless.

How to Extend Bali VOA with UK Passport

If you want to stay in Bali for longer than 30 days, the B1 Visa on Arrival can be extended once for another 30 days. This gives UK passport holders a maximum stay of 60 days on the B1 visa.

In 2026, the extension costs IDR 500,000, the same as the original visa fee.

Extending an e-VOA

If you applied for your B1 e-VOA online before travelling, you can also apply for the extension online through Indonesia’s official immigration system.

The basic process for UK tourists is simple:

  1. Log in to the same Indonesian immigration account used for your e-VOA.
  2. Find your current visa or stay permit.
  3. Select the option to extend your stay.
  4. Check your passport and visa details.
  5. Complete the extension application.
  6. Pay the IDR 500,000 extension fee.
  7. Follow any additional instructions shown in your account.

Extending a VOA Purchased at Bali Airport

If you bought your Visa on Arrival after landing, the extension process can involve additional steps compared with extending an e-VOA online.

You can handle the extension yourself through Indonesian Immigration or use a registered visa agent to manage much of the process for you. Depending on the current immigration procedure, you may still need to attend an immigration office in person.

💡 My Advice: Start your extension before your original 30-day stay expires. Your permitted stay is based on the dates recorded by Indonesian Immigration, so don’t rely on counting roughly four weeks from the day you landed.

2026 Bali Entry Checklist for UK Tourists

bali visa for uk citizens - arrival checklist at the airport

Sorting out a Bali visa for UK citizens is just one part of the process. Before leaving the UK, work through this checklist so you have the main entry requirements sorted before you arrive at Bali Airport.

Before You Fly in 2026:

  • Check your passport: Make sure it has at least 6 months validity remaining from the date you arrive in Indonesia and is in good condition.
  • Arrange your Bali visa: Apply for a B1 e-VOA before travelling or plan to purchase a Visa on Arrival after landing.
  • Complete the All Indonesia form: Submit the arrival declaration within 72 hours before arriving. This combines the immigration, customs and health declarations.
  • Pay the Bali Tourist Levy: Pay the separate IDR 150,000 levy online before travelling and keep the confirmation handy.
  • Check your onward ticket: Have proof of a return or onward flight from Indonesia within your permitted stay.
  • Save copies of your documents: Keep your visa, arrival declaration and tourist levy confirmations on your phone so you can access them without Wi-Fi.

When You Arrive in Bali

If you’ve already arranged your e-VOA, All Indonesia declaration and Bali Tourist Levy before flying, there isn’t much paperwork left to deal with after landing.

Follow the signs for immigration, have your passport and entry documents accessible, then collect your luggage and continue through the arrival process.

If you’re getting a Visa on Arrival instead, you’ll need to purchase it at the airport before clearing immigration.

These visa and entry requirements also apply if you’re arriving in Bali by cruise ship at Benoa Cruise Port, not just when flying into Bali Airport.

Private Bali Airport Transfer

bali airport transfer for uk citizens

Once you’ve cleared immigration, collected your luggage and made it through customs, the last thing you want after a flight from the UK is to start figuring out transport in the arrivals hall.

I have a private Bali Airport transfers with a driver waiting for you when you arrive. Your flight is monitored for delays, so there’s no need to worry if you land at night or later than scheduled.

  • Private vehicle: Just you and your group.
  • Airport pickup: Your driver waits in the arrivals area.
  • Flight monitoring: Delays are tracked automatically.
  • 24/7 pickups: Available for daytime and late-night arrivals.
  • Fixed price: Fuel, parking and airport fees are included.
  • Direct to your accommodation: Hotels and villas across Bali.

It’s especially useful after the long trip from the UK. Clear the airport, meet your driver and head straight to your accommodation without dealing with airport transport when you’re half asleep.
