Amed is the Bali most tourists never see. No traffic chaos, no influencer circus. Just quiet coastal villages, black sand beaches, and Mount Agung in the background..
This private Amed day tour booking is for travellers who want something slower, more scenic, and a bit more real.
You’ll have your own SUV and English-speaking driver for the day, with the option to jump in the water and snorkel some of the clearest reefs in Bali, or skip the snorkelling entirely and explore East Bali on land instead.
Either way, it’s a full day out that feels like a proper escape, not just another stop on the Bali checklist.
Amed Day Tour Overview

This is a fully private Amed day tour with your own SUV and an English-speaking driver for up to 12 hours. No shared transport, no fixed group schedule. It’s just you, your crew, and East Bali vibes.
Snorkelling is a must-do in Amed, but I’ve kept it optional in the booking form below. Not everyone wants to get wet, and Amed is still worth the trip even if you stay dry and just enjoy the coastline, village life, and mountain views.
If you do choose snorkelling, it’s done properly. You’ll have your own private boat and captain, with snorkelling equipment included (and lifejacket if needed).
You’ll spend around 2 hours on the water, stopping at several snorkelling spots at your own pace. It’s still one of the most beginner-friendly snorkelling areas in Bali, without the ferry you get around Nusa Penida.
Amed Snorkelling Experience

Snorkelling is one of the highlights of any Amed day tour, especially if you’re after something calm and easy rather than high-adrenaline water time.
Most snorkelling spots around Amed have gentle entries, reefs close to shore, and generally mild conditions, which makes this area very beginner friendly.
Conditions are usually best in the morning, when the sea is flatter and visibility is clearer.
While weather can vary, snorkelling in Amed is more predictable than many other parts of Bali, and well suited to short day trips.
During the Amed day tour, you’ll be swimming over coral gardens and rocky seabed with plenty of tropical fish, and turtles are sometimes spotted when conditions are right.
It’s relaxed, unhurried snorkelling that fits perfectly into a full day exploring East Bali.
If you’re not confident in the ocean or feel nervous about swimming, you can choose to add a snorkelling guide in the booking form below.
If you’re comfortable in the water, you don’t need one. Your boat is fully private, your captain will take you to the spots, and you can snorkel at your own pace.
Snorkelling Spots in Amed

These are the main snorkelling spots in Amed, each offering something slightly different. With a private boat, you’re not locked into a fixed route.
You can spend longer at certain spots you like, or move on once you’ve had your fill. Snorkelling during the Amed Day Tour is completely up to you.
• Jemeluk Bay calm water with coral gardens and plenty of tropical fish
• Selang Coral Reef deeper reef with healthy coral and fewer people
• Japanese Shipwreck shallow wreck site, very beginner friendly and easy to explore
• Turtle Point known for frequent turtle sightings when conditions are right
Add to Your Itinerary

Here are some additional stops to consider after your snorkelling in Amed. You won’t be able to fit all of them into one day.

- Lahangan Sweet: high viewpoint near Mount Agung with wide valley views
- Lempuyang Temple: famous Gates of Heaven temple with mountain scenery
- Tirta Gangga: royal water palace with ponds and stepping stones
- Taman Ujung: spacious former royal palace with reflection pools and sea views
- Virgin Beach: white sand beach with clear water and simple warungs
- Tenganan Village: traditional Bali Aga village known for gringsing textiles

- Or…just spend the day in Amed and take it easy!

About Amed, Snorkelling, and Diving

Amed, Bali is a string of small coastal villages on the east coast, known for its black sand beaches, calm waters, and strong fishing culture.
It’s quieter, less built-up, and far more laid-back than most beach areas in the south. Life here runs on sea conditions, sunrise starts, and slow afternoons.
What really puts Amed on the map is what’s happening just offshore. The reefs sit close to the coastline, which means you don’t need long boat rides to reach good snorkelling or diving.
Coral gardens start shallow, visibility is often excellent, and marine life is easy to spot even for beginners.
Amed is also one of the best places in Bali to learn diving. Many dive sites are shore-entry, currents are generally mild, and conditions are predictable compared to places like Nusa Penida.
That’s why so many dive schools are based here and why first-time divers often do their intro dives in Amed before going anywhere else.
Whether you snorkel, dive, or just sit on the beach watching boats come and go, Amed has a way of slowing the day down. It’s not flashy, and that’s exactly the point.
